Short Story: The Rock

November 21, 2013

Lately, as I continue slowly working away at Cloaks: Book 4, I’ve been plagued by ideas for short stories. Currently, I’ve finished two with notes and lines jotted down for a few others. For now, I’ll share one of those stories and save the next one for next week. This story has a bit of a mystery to it, so share your thoughts on the players and the setting. Enjoy!

Cover & Blurb for Cloaks: Book 3: The Illusionists!

May 23, 2013

It’s finally here! Time to reveal the cover and blurb for Cloaks: Book 3: The Illusionists!

Cloaks: Book 3: The Illusionists

Cloaks, the masters of magic, distinguished by the colors of their cloaks. The Reds, who draw through emotions; the Illusionists, who draw through knowledge; the Directs, who draw straight from magic; the Thasos, who draw through plants and animals; the Healers, who draw through human beings; and the Royals, who rule the kingdoms of Mantau. All cloaks, divided by their philosophies, must work together as a new threat emerges.

Kylis Lawson has returned from his mission to Tergoha to find the war with Fuerza brewing on another front. King James of Rhinia has learned that the Fuerzans are trying to turn Rhinia’s allies to the west against him and his kingdom. Kylis and his team join the king’s diplomat to Wen Hadich to help keep the old Rhinian ally aligned with them.

Wen Hadich is the trading capital of the continent, and for Rhinia, it is the greatest supplier of raw materials and resources to fund the upcoming war. Rhinia cannot lose this key ally. For Kylis and his team, they journey through the Gray Cloak village of Melgina, traverse the wealthy streets of Wen Hadich’s capital, Castle Addison, and learn of the important similarities between King Milek of Wen Hadich and King James.

But the Fuerzans are already close to making a deal with King Milek, and Kylis and his team must work fast to expose the deception they are so sure the Fuerzan Illusionist is using to get his way. As he meets with King Milek and dodges a cloak mercenary out to prevent his team from learning the truth, will Kylis discover the truth or will Fuerza gain a new ally and turn the tide of the impending war before it begins?

As for the editing process, I’m almost done with the 3rd round of edits. That means it’s time to search for test readers. Get in contact with me through the “About” tab above if you’re interested. I’m not sure exactly when the story will be ready to publish since I plan to do something different coming the next round of edits as the story gets test read, but I’m aiming for mid-summer, preferably in July. Stay tuned, everyone!

Comic Reviews for 7/25/12

August 4, 2012

Since I put out two weeks of comic reviews last time, and won’t be getting any this week because of my own personal circumstances, I decided not to rush getting the last week of July’s thoughts online. As for the end of the month, I still argue with myself on staying on a title or not, some titles take an odd turn, and Deadpool continues to be one of the best.

Comic Reviews for 7/11/12 & 7/18/12

July 31, 2012

It’s been a few weeks since I did this, but now I’ve got some reviews written, and instead of doing the two late weeks separately, I’ve done them together. After all, lots of good stuff came out, and I read through the two weeks very quickly once they arrived. During that time, my two favorite series had new issues, many stories concluded, and Tribbles arrived on the scene in the new Star Trek universe!

18 Days Later

July 27, 2012

It’s been 18 days since my last post, so I best let everyone know what’s going on.

Why no comic reviews? Two weeks ago, the guy who sends me my comics went on vacation but I didn’t know that. I finally decided to call and ask the store what was going on, and that’s when I found out what was going on there. I was told a mass email was sent out, but I guess I didn’t get it or I deleted it without knowing (I doubt the latter, however.)

How about writing? It’s been over a week since I last wrote anything, and the last time I wrote, I only wrote 488 words, which includes “describe…”, “review…from previous book”, and so on. I’ve mainly done that to get the story going to get me excited, but I haven’t been getting any further. With work leaving me exhausted and unmotivated, and trying to get everything packed up and moved, I just haven’t even tried to write anything down. And on top of it all, one of my small notebooks of ideas went through the wash, so I’ve lost a few things there.

Once I get my comics tomorrow (I’m told I will but I have my doubts since I’ve still not heard from the guy who sends them out), and I’ve successfully moved into my new place, maybe I’ll get back to doing what I’d like to do than what I must do.
