Comic Reviews for 7/25/12

August 4, 2012

Since I put out two weeks of comic reviews last time, and won’t be getting any this week because of my own personal circumstances, I decided not to rush getting the last week of July’s thoughts online. As for the end of the month, I still argue with myself on staying on a title or not, some titles take an odd turn, and Deadpool continues to be one of the best.

Comic Reviews for 7/11/12 & 7/18/12

July 31, 2012

It’s been a few weeks since I did this, but now I’ve got some reviews written, and instead of doing the two late weeks separately, I’ve done them together. After all, lots of good stuff came out, and I read through the two weeks very quickly once they arrived. During that time, my two favorite series had new issues, many stories concluded, and Tribbles arrived on the scene in the new Star Trek universe!

Comic Reviews for 7/4/12

July 9, 2012

More exciting stories came out last week, and I must say Earth 2 is quickly becoming one of my favorite comics. Also out last week, more great Bat adventures, the Punisher fails at disguises, and Danger Club continues to amaze.

Comic Reviews for 6/27/12

July 6, 2012

I’m a little late at getting this up, but circumstances kept me busy with other things. The final week of the month had some promising starts to upcoming storylines. Last week we saw what the Van Helsings are, what Tony Stark’s plan was, and the return of Gregg Hurwitz to Batman.

Comic Reviews 6/13/12

June 21, 2012

I’ve ended up dropping well-over half of my pull list to make ends meet. This may be a blessing since it has caused me to drop a lot of titles I continued to purchase out of loyalty instead of enjoyment, so I’ll likely be entering a new state of fandom. However, I don’t foresee this problem lasting too long, and it’s possible I’ll be picking up a handful of more titles as soon as a month. In the digital age, it will be easy for me to get caught up with the stories online, but as a collector, I’ll be disappointed to see holes in my collection. But it can’t be helped. As for this week’s comics Deadpool continues to struggle with his new powers, Ultimate X-men’s new writer outlines his plan, and one title I planned to drop got itself back on the list with its latest issue.

Comic Reviews for 6/6/12

June 12, 2012

I’m finally caught up on the issues I missed last week, and I included those reviews below; that’s why this week’s list is so big. As for the new books, I checked out a few more independent #1s from Valiant, Image, and Boom!, DC’s Earth 2 books continue to impress me, and three of my favorite comics came out as well. Overall, a really good week.

Comic Reviews for 5/30/12

June 4, 2012

I got my comics this weekend, but I didn’t get half of them. I remember pulling them, but apparently they dropped off at some point, so I’ll be watching that more closely from now on. What I got to wait another week to check out are the Batman and Animal Man annuals, two Star Trek issues (which includes the Doctor Who crossover one), and the conclusion to Marvel’s Exile event. Sigh. Well, I still got some good stuff, otherwise, including a new “young justice” title from DC, the next issue of America’s Got Powers, and the start of a promising story in G.I. Joe’s Snake Eyes.

Comic Reviews for 5/23/12

May 29, 2012

Another week with a new writer on one of my favorite books that delivers a great first issue, we see Deadpool with his new look and powers, and I check out the first issue of a new monster book from IDW. In general, lots of good stuff from last week!

Comic Reviews for 5/16/12

May 22, 2012

Aside from Avengers Academy, I read all my independent titles first this week, finding them much more enjoyable lately, although the “Big 2” still have some good stories coming out. I also decided this week that I’m done with Blue Beetle since I find the story and changes to that character disappointing. That said, this week continued Night of the Owls, which I have nothing to say about this week, Marvel’s Exiled crossover continues to be lots of fun, and Avengers vs X-men heats up.

Comic Reviews for 05/09/12

May 15, 2012

Listed below are brief reviews of last week’s comics where I discuss elements of the stories I like. It was a busy week, but since it was my birthday, I’ll take it as a present from the comic book industry. Two DC crossover/tie-in events are in full swing, Captain America and the Punisher are kicking ass, and I’m glad I decided to check out one more issue of Supreme.
